Dear Falcons,
We made it to April! Spring soccer is finally here :) See below for updates from the club and information about upcoming opportunities to play soccer and to connect with our LGBTQIA+ community.
- Transgender Day of Visibility Fundraiser: March 31 was International Transgender Day of Visibility, a day to celebrate the transgender community and raise awareness of transgender rights. All spring, the Falcons will be fundraising to support our trans and non-binary community. To kick off fundraising, we are selling Falcons logo stickers that feature the trans flag. You can purchase a Falcons trans flag sticker on our website or at in-person Falcons events. We will announce the specific non-profit organization we will be donating to this year at a later date.
- Dining Out for Life: Thursday, April 29 will be Philadelphia's Dining Out for Life night this year. Organizers are encouraging "Dining In" to maintain social distancing procedures and are not requiring any restaurants to donate any proceeds this year, given the financial impact the pandemic has had on many of them. Diners will have the opportunity to donate directly to the fundraiser when they order. Check out all of the details and a list of participating restaurants.
- Saturday Evening Pickup: The Falcons have reserved the entire outdoor fields at Palumbo Recreation Center (725 South 10th Street) every Saturday night from 7pm - 9pm. We will be there every week and at least one or two board members will always be there to answer questions and enforce our Covid policies. Details of pickup guidelines are here.
- Falcons in the White House: Former Falcon Jesse Salazar was recently appointed to the role of Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Policy. Jesse was active in the Falcons when he lived in Philadelphia in the mid 2000s. We're so proud and excited to see more LGBTQIA+ representation in our government!
- Get to Know the Board: Since we haven't had many in-person events yet this year and because several of our board members are new to the club, I invite you to visit the Board page of the Falcons website to learn a bit about the current board! We're excited for upcoming events this spring where we can safely play soccer and share space devoted to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Yours in soccer,
